"Melon" coffee coffee/tea cup with saucer in Nilus green, part of the "Cairo - Jaipur" collection designed by Giambattista Valli on the melon inspired shapes designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Wiener Werkstätte in 1929. The designs in the collection couple playfulness with elegance and are hand-painted in soft shades of pale greens with gold rims.
The the three colors created by Giambattista Valli include Holi green, jade green and Nilus green. Each piece in the Giambattista Valli collection is marked with his name on the bottom.
Founded in 1718, the Augarten Porcelain is the second-oldest in Europe. Now as then, porcelain continues to be made and painted by hand. Each piece is thus unique.
